TechnoPark Innovation and Technology Laboratory in Gazi Magusa Technology Development Region has hosted a cooperation between University Researchers and public and private institution specialists, where work towards attaining solutions to real-life problems using GIS methods have began. The effective use of GIS systems will bring many applications on transportation, bearings using digital maps, emergency management, city planning, infrastructure and security issues, which will lead to a computerized infrastructure control, the foresight of natural disasters and safer and more comfortable conditions of living in the TRNC.

A company of TechnoPark, Egemen Limited, and one of Turkey’s leading GIS companies, with its own GIS software, NETCAD Limited, cooperated in a Technology exchange and as the first project, created the Gönyeli Municipality GIS System, and applied it in 2010.

Easily accessible at http://onlinegonyeli.com, The Gönyeli Municipality GIS System allows the automation of Municipal services, as well as serving as a portal where the public can access Municipal services online and get information about the city, thanks to the City Information system included. Using this system the city residents can get information about a wide range of areas, from zoning to pharmacies on duty, from schools to the locations of public and private corporations. Also, The City Guide within the software, shows the shortest distance between two points in 2D and 3D maps.
